talkSPORT Betting Guide
This clash at the Aviva Stadium provides one selection for Wednesday’s football bets guide, while we also take in action from the Netherlands with a promotion playoff and a friendly between two Premier League sides in Australia.
Football Bet of the Day
Starting with the battle to play Eredivisie football next season, ADO Den Haag and Excelsior Rotterdam will face off in the first leg of their play-off semi-final on Wednesday evening (17:45 kick-off).
Having finished in 16th place in the Dutch top flight this season, Excelsior must compete in the relegation playoff to maintain their top-flight status.
Wednesday sees them travel to Car Jeans Stadion for the first leg against promotion hopefuls ADO Den Haag.
The Storks finished only in fifth place in the Eerste Divisie this season and had to battle through quarter-final legs against De Graafschap.
Having conceded four goals over the course of those two legs against De Graafschap, it’s hard to see Den Haag keeping Excelsior at bay and the visitors are good value to take a lead into the second leg.
Special of the day
With the dust only just settling on the 2023/24 Premier League season, Newcastle and Tottenham are preparing to meet in a friendly in Australia on Wednesday morning UK time (10:45 kick-off).
These sides are set to face off in the fantastic surroundings of the Melbourne Cricket Ground, which can host up to 100,000 spectators.
Many of the crowd will be supporting Aussie boss Ange Postecoglou and his Spurs side but Newcastle might well spoil the party in Melbourne.
The Magpies thrashed Spurs 4-0 in their last meeting in April and they might well be able to land another high-scoring win down under.
Looking at the bet builder market, a repeat of Newcastle winning at the break and at full-time, as they did last month, is worth considering.
Over 3.5 total goals would have landed in six of the last seven meetings between these sides in the Premier League and added to this bet builder boosts the price to 21/4.
Longshot of the day
Saving the best till last, the Europa League final at the Aviva Stadium is undoubtedly the biggest game of the night, as Atalanta and Bayer Leverkusen face off in Dublin (20:00 kick-off).
Manager Xabi Alonso and his side are remarkably undefeated this season with just one game to go, having blown away Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund to claim a maiden Bundesliga title.
The only side left standing in their way are Atalanta, who are preparing for their first-ever final of a European competition.
Europa League finals tend to be cagey affairs, with all of the last three finishing level at the end of regular time.
Given the trend in recent years, Bayer Leverkusen to cap off their marvellous season with a penalty shootout win over Atalanta catches the eye at 12/1.
